Case studies LUMINES Lighting – LED profiles in architecture

LED lighting is used in nearly every type of space—from residential interiors and offices to outdoor architecture. A particularly important role is played by aluminium LED profiles, which enable the creation of cohesive, linear lighting systems tailored to the character of a project.

In projects delivered by partners working with LUMINES Lighting solutions, this approach translates into real implementations where LED profiles become an integral part of the architecture, rather than merely a source of light. The examples below demonstrate real applications of linear LED lighting in completed spaces.

LED profile as an architectural element

Aluminium LED profiles are now one of the key tools in shaping modern interior architecture, going beyond their basic lighting function to become a striking compositional element of space. This approach to lighting design is reflected in the project below, where the lighting installation was conceived as an integral part of the building’s architecture. The goal was not simply to supplement the interior with light sources, but to design a system that co-defines the space and emphasizes its geometry.

Instead of traditional ceiling fixtures, a linear lighting system based on LED profiles was used. Its dynamic layout organizes the interior, builds its character, and enhances the modern expression of the entire structure.

Design assumptions

The lighting concept was developed individually for the building’s architecture. The design was intended to integrate with the structure, highlight its spatial form, reinforce the cohesive character of the interior, and at the same time ensure user comfort and system durability.

This approach went beyond standard lighting design schemes. The key aspect was using light as a tool to shape space and emphasize its most important architectural qualities.

Concept – balance between form and function

The design is based on a combination of modern architecture and a warm, residential character. A warm light colour temperature was used to contrast with raw materials such as concrete and stone, complemented by natural wood and marble.

The LED profile-based lighting system was designed as a cohesive visual layer that organizes the space and highlights its structure without dominating the architecture.

Design process

The project was preceded by a detailed analysis of the building’s architecture, the functions of individual zones, and the availability of daylight. Based on this, lighting parameters and fixture placement were selected, maintaining a balance between aesthetics and technical requirements such as visual comfort, lighting uniformity, and system durability.

The transition from concept to implementation included preparing technical documentation and selecting specific solutions, including appropriate aluminium LED profiles, which allowed the design assumptions to be translated into precise installation solutions.

Final result

The completed linear system was fully integrated into the building’s architecture, creating a cohesive and functional lighting structure.

Thanks to carefully selected parameters, uniform and comfortable lighting was achieved, emphasizing the geometry of the space and highlighting finishing materials. The LED profiles create a consistent light structure, directly influencing how the interior is perceived.

Single-family house – LED profiles in furniture and interior architecture

In residential spaces, LED profiles for furniture integration and architectural elements serve both functional and decorative purposes. They enable the creation of continuous lines of light that shape the atmosphere of the interior and enhance its usability.

Combining different types of LED profiles—such as floor-mounted (e.g. TERRA), suspended (e.g. DILEDA), recessed (e.g. G), or wall-mounted (e.g. LOGI)—allows for the creation of a multi-layered lighting composition. This makes it possible to achieve a cohesive, integrated lighting structure where individual elements serve different functions while forming a harmonious whole.

In the project below, precisely guided lines of light integrated into the ceiling and floor emphasize the proportions of the interior and its timeless character.

Integrated under-cabinet lighting used in the project enhances user comfort by providing uniform, shadow-free illumination of the countertop and the area around the washbasin. The whole is complemented by subtle lighting accents that build the atmosphere of the interior.

In areas with increased humidity, solutions with higher protection ratings are used, such as the aluminium profile TERRA with a dedicated TERRA cover featuring high water resistance. Thanks to special seals and co-extrusion technology, the cover achieves a protection level of IP54, effectively protecting the LED strip from moisture ingress and enabling safe use of linear lighting in spaces such as bathrooms. This solution does not require additional silicone sealing, resulting in improved aesthetics, easier installation, and convenient maintenance access.

Minimalist lighting solutions such as surface-mounted and suspended LED profiles were used as a deliberate compositional tool—highlighting materials and architectural details, enhancing the refined and elegant character of the entire project while ensuring uniform light distribution.

Office spacelinear LED profiles in modern offices

In office environments, LED lighting plays a key role in ensuring visual comfort, appropriate illumination levels, and clear spatial organization. It is important to combine general lighting with task lighting and elements that highlight the architecture of the interior.

Designing office lighting requires compliance with applicable standards and parameters affecting user comfort, such as glare reduction (UGR), lighting uniformity, and appropriate illuminance at workstations. A properly selected aluminium LED profile and suitable optics make it possible to achieve the required lighting parameters while maintaining high aesthetics and design consistency.

Using a single modular lighting system based on LED profiles allows for a cohesive arrangement of office spaces with diverse styles.

Universal lighting solutions highlight both brand values and architectural character, regardless of the chosen interior style. Simple luminaire forms emphasize minimalist aesthetics, enhancing the sense of order, calm, and spatial harmony. Subtle illumination of wooden elements adds warmth and improves visual comfort. In spaces rich in colours and forms, lighting remains neutral, serving as a functional and discreet complement to the design.

Outdoor lighting – façade and drive-over LED profiles

Lighting systems extend beyond interior spaces and include solutions designed for outdoor use. Outdoor LED profiles, including façade LED profiles (e.g. FASSO LED profile) and drive-over LED profiles (e.g. STRADA LED profile), are used in façades, terraces, and communication zones. LUMINES aluminium LED profiles for outdoor applications are characterized by a high protection rating of IP68, ensuring resistance to water, dust, and harsh weather conditions.

High durability and reliability are ensured by the proprietary SealFlow® sealing technology, enabling IP68 protection and IK10 mechanical resistance. This ensures stable performance in changing environmental conditions, with high resistance to moisture, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations. In the case of drive-over LED profiles, this solution allows for safely withstanding loads of up to 12 tons per axle.

Among outdoor solutions, lighting integrated into pavements, driveways, and walkways plays an important role. It enables precise guidance of light in space, improves safety, and highlights the architectural layout of the surroundings.

Drive-over lighting is a functional element of outdoor systems, designed for installation in surfaces such as paving stones, concrete, and terrace slabs. These LED profiles are characterized by high mechanical strength and tightness, enabling safe operation in environments exposed to moisture, dirt, and dynamic loads.
